What services are available at Pro Centre?
Pro Centre offers special support to complement public services; the goal is to reduce the risk of marginalisation and alienation. We strive to support the service user and to improve their well-being and quality of life.
Our low threshold service centres offer social and healthcare services, which support sex workers' health and ability to work, and promote self-motivation in getting through life.
With the help of the outreach work we strive to reach groups that are difficult to reach otherwise. Outreach work is also carried out online.
Our work involves assessing the needs of the service user, the guidance to the right services, and their coordination.
The needs of each service user are logged and the support services are tailored in accordance with these.
Why does Pro Centre provide its own special services?
The target group of Pro Centre has a typically wide-ranging area of need. They are travelling from one area to another and from one country to another, and the social stigma linked to prostitution carries a risk of alienation. The services offered by Pro Centre complement public services and ward off the likelihood of a downward spiral taking place.
Pro Centre's service users often need special services, which are not statutory public services. For most service users, the obligation of their hometowns to provide services is not fulfilled.
Who funds Pro Centre's services?
The work of Pro Centre is funded by Finland’s Slot Machine Association, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, Helsinki City Social Services, Tampere City Board for Services which promote health and capacity.
